Cyclocross. Mark Fisher finishes 17th in V50 category
Yeovilâs TRI UK rider, Heidi Gould, took top honours in Sundayâs South West Regional Cyclo-cross Championship. In a closely fought Senior Female race, Gould was challenged for the top spot, but managed to gap her main challenger and former Mountain Bike compatriot, Anna Cipullo, on the uphill sections. Gould then successfully maintained her lead through the technical sections, which had been made even trickier by the wet and muddy conditions. This win will also certainly cement her lead in the South West Cyclo-cross (SWCX) League standings.
Gouldâs TRI UK team mate, Darren Matthews, finished the strongly contested V40 Veterans category race in 14th place, which is Matthews best result of the season and an improvement on his 21st place in last yearâs Regional Championship.
In his first season racing Cyclo-cross, Yeovil Cycling Clubâs, Mark Fisher, finished in 17th place in the V50 Veterans category. With his technical skills improving with every race, Fisher is hoping to move up the SWCX League standings in the two remaining rounds of the SWCX League.
All three riders will see action again in a fortnightâs time, in Round 6 of the SWCX League, which is once again being held at Newnham Park in Devon.
