31 August 2008 Cyclo-cross event in Wellington, on 14th September 2008, as part of the South West Cyclo-Cross league. This new event will make the league truly a South West league with events also being held in Devon and Cornwall. We are hoping that the recent victories in the Olympics by the GB riders will have raised the profile of cycling in the UK and are aiming this grass roots sport at the younger members of the community. 22 August 2008 Evening TT Series A good turn out and a new course record for Doug Dewey, perhaps I should have a few more Thursdays off! Results.

15 August 2008 Evening TT Series The threat of heavy rain meant that we moved to the 5 course rather than risk using the A303 during one of the day’s torrential downpours. As it turned out we could have used the 10, but ‘better safe than sorry’. Results.

14 August 2008 Evening TT Series Results for last week. New Handicap. The 5 course has been particularly popular again this year and on Monday the Committee decided to add an additional prize for this year, a 5 Handicap. It will be run on the penultimate event of the year, 11th September, with the handicap time being the average of your three best rides on the course this year.

CC WEYMOUTH Presents Charity 2-up Club 10 TTT
Tuesday 12th August at 7pm Course P451
This is a club event only and forms part of the CC Weymouth evening programme. It has been decided to donate any funds from this to help our clubmate Paul Gould who was seriously injured in the Sotonia 25 earlier in the season. Paul is still in the Spinal Injuries Unit at Salisbury District Hospital where he is likely to remain until around Christmas. Typically Paul has asked that any funds raised are not to go to him, but to the Spinal Injuries Unit themselves to purchase some much needed
ceiling mounted televisions.
Please come along and ride our 2-up and get some much needed practice for the BDWCA
event on the following Saturday.
Entry fee £2.00 CCW members, £2.20 other clubs, £3.00 CCW

27 July 2008 Evening TT Series Here are Thursday's. Results

Open 25. What a good move, had the event been held on its original date it would almost certainly have been cancelled, as it was the Open 25 took place on Sunday morning in great conditions, warm fairly still and despite a little mist to start mostly glorious sunshine. Charles Zanettacci, on his first visit to the course, posted the fastest time, a short 54, with David Kidell and Andy Winterbottom second and third respectively. Chris Martin, in only his second 25 did a great ride, not only under the hour but a 58:40, Barrie Whitehead also posted a PB knocking nearly two minutes off his previous best. Full results to follow just as soon as Mike gets his PC back from the menders! A great promotion and thanks to Mike Loader and all the YCC helpers.

5 July 2008 Evening TT Series Well the Thursday evening weather jinx finally came good. After a really wet day the rain cleared not long before the event started. The course was slightly wet at the start finish end but the winds were light and the air was warm. Consequently we had the best evening of the year so far with several PBs, Chris Martin did a storming ride, despite complaining of aches and pains from running a duathlon the night before. Nicola Morgan improved her time by a massive two and a half minutes. Results.

Tony White. For those of us that have been in the club for more years than we care to remember you will no doubt remember Tony. Sadly he died last week, after a long illness he was showing signs of recovering but then relapsed. A tester, his name still remains against several club records, and runs leader for many years he was always a keen rider. Our thoughts and condolences go to his widow Dawn. The funeral is on Tuesday at 1:30, at this home in Cole. If you are going to attend please can you let David Notley know, 07525 900718, as space is limited and we are trying to arrange some car sharing.

27 June 2008 Evening TT Series The Thursday evening weather seems to be against us this year, yet another cool and windy one. Looking at the times this has the feel of a truly old fashioned results sheet thanks to the strong winds, even with all our high-tech equipment there is no overcoming a breeze like that. 26 June.

20 June 2008 Evening TT Series The first 'Come and Try It' of the season saw a good crowd of riders competing on the five course. It was a true family affair, the Martin v Walsh v Vince v Loader v Gibbs v Ward! Not quite sure how you pick a winner from that lot. There is another CATI event in july so if you would like to invite any friends or colleagues along then start persuading them now. The results for this wekk and last week are here: 19 June 12 June.

Thanks to everyone that helped Shaun promote yet another successful event. There is an album of photos of the race on flickr e thanks to Ann, she ishappy to send hi res pics to any one who asks and even print them occasionally.
