30 January 2012 VTTA adopts new Standards After lively debate, the delegates attending the VTTA 2012 AGM voted to adopt the new Standards. The vote was carried with 22 delegates voting in favour, 10 against. These will be in place for the 2012 season. You can view the new tables from a link on the VTTA website or the following will take you directly to the new tables. If you don't know what this is all about then you are probably not a time triallist over the age of 40. For those that are the theory is that the new times will make it a fairer competition.

25 January 2012 Olympic Road Race London 2012 organisers have increased capacity on Box Hill to up to 15,000 for the Olympic road race on Saturday July 28. Capacity was limited to just 3,500 for the test event in August, in order to protect the National Trust land – but riders and spectators complained of a muted atmosphere. After consultation with the National Trust and Natural England, capacity has been increased on both the Box Hill climb and Donkey Green. Access will be ticketed, with details to be announced ‘in due course’. The men’s race will cover 250km, starting on The Mall and heading out to Surrey, completing nine laps of Box Hill before the flat-run back to the capital, finishing in front of Buckingham Palace. The women’s peloton will contest a 140km route a day later, with two laps of Box Hill. The remaining 120km of the route is free to spectators, including some great points through London and the Royal Parks.

2 January 2012 HAPPY NEW YEAR. The start of another year and we pushed off with a club run to Glastonbury. Twenty four riders were out and enjoyed a largely traffic-free run to the Abbey Tea Rooms. Thanks to Mary, and her staff, for opening early for us and for being so efficient with the cakes and coffee. The rain even held off long enough to get home! May 2012 continue in the same way.
